The rooms needed cohesion.

They needed to be friends but still keep their own personalities intact.

I was hired to style a home’s entryway after the client had chosen a gorgeous, modern wallpaper for the front door entrance but wasn’t sure how to decorate around it. When I arrived for my initial Style Consultation, I was thrilled about Redefining the entryway but as I looked to my right, I saw a somewhat sad site. The dining room, dressed in a Traditional Decor style, felt left out of the modern fun. As these two rooms are connected, and the first part of the house you see when you walk in, I recommended they both get a makeover. Lucky for me (and the forlorn dining room), the homeowner said yes! The rooms needed cohesion. They needed to be friends, but still keep their own personalities intact. The bright, energetic wallpaper gave a happy welcome to visitors, I wanted to keep the dining room a little bit more romantic with navy grasscloth wallpaper and a dreamy chandelier. I mingled vintage touches (see the 18th century French buffet & antique wooden hutch) right alongside deep blues, lucite bar shelving and pops of orange and green. Mixing old with new and elegant with rustic gave the perfect balance to both spaces allowing for a beautiful, harmonious friendship.
